This question area evaluates how you approach real-world problems when requirements are vague, data is incomplete, or unexpected obstacles appear. You'll be asked to recount specific situations where you analyzed an issue, gathered missing information, chose a path forward, and executed corrective actions to reach a measurable outcome.

You should expect prompts that probe for: how you clarified ambiguous requirements, the steps you used to investigate root causes, how you identified edge cases, and trade-offs you considered (e.g., speed vs. quality). Interviewers want concrete examples that include the context, actions you took, and results—so prepare at least one STAR-style story that shows progression from problem discovery to follow-through.

How to structure your answer

Start by briefly setting context and constraints, explain the diagnostic steps and data you collected, outline options you considered with trade-offs, describe the solution you implemented (including corrective actions or rollbacks), and finish with measurable outcomes and lessons learned. If something went wrong, emphasize what you changed to prevent recurrence.

You should demonstrate structured thinking, comfort with ambiguity, ability to prioritize, technical or analytical tooling used for diagnosis, ownership of corrective measures, and clear learning from the experience.
